Kari and Mariah clash while a secret about Quad’s past is revealed

“Finale” – Although the Georgia wine tour ended on a sweet note, there are still some sour feelings among the ladies. While Jackie prepares for her spa grand opening, Toya shows off her husband’s new business venture to the Atlanta elite. A busy, single lady from Los Angeles has a way to help find love through her dating website designed to attract quality singles. And two buddies from Cincinnati, OH hope the Sharks will bite into their franchise business specializing in gourmet grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches. In a follow up segment, Beverly Vines-Haines & Charlotte Clary from Yelm, WA give an update on their sugar free candy company, Ice Chips, which Barbara Corcoran and Mark Cuban invested in during Season 4.

In the first “Shark Tank” Extra, a clip of the pitch from “Phineas and Ferb’s” nefarious Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz will air during the show. Teams are told to continue racing as they arrive at the mat in Christchurch, New Zealand. They get their next clues, which tell them to fly to Bali, Indonesia.  They get to Bali in three clusters at three times:
1st flight–front of the pack, in at 8:30 a.m., Dave/Connor, Pam/Winnie,
Max/Katie, Caroline/Jennifer.
2nd flight–in at 10:35 a.m., Team JJ and Team You Tube.
3rd flight–bringing up the rear, Chuck/Wynona, Mona/Beth, and Bates/Anthony.
The hockey players slip to dead last when they get a cab driver who doesn’t know where to go.

Instructions are to find a place called the “sacred monkey forest,” where teams are to choose a coconut, give it to a monkey, and the monkey will reveal your next clue.

The front four teams arrive at the forest. Specially prepared coconuts are waiting in a small cage. Teams take their coconuts, set them on the pavement or the wall, and wait for a monkey to come and open up the coconut to eat/drink.   These monkeys are an unusual species, they’re large, have pretty grey fur, and long tapered heads and faces. Teams have to wait while the monkeys chew the husks, break open the shells, and eat/drink. Once the monkey’s finished, the team or an attendant can get the small capsule inside the shell that holds the clue to the detour. (When the hockey players finally arrive and get their clue capsule, they at first wonder if it’s a battery or lipstick.)

Detour is “sandy bottom” or “fruity top.” All six front-running teams pick
“fruity top.” Dave/Connor note they don’t have much choice.

The teams go to a temple area where they have to build a tall, heavy, elaborate fruit tower. Then a woman carries it on her head as part of a religous procession, to where a priest blesses the fruit offering and gives the teams their next clues.

When the three back-of-the-pack teams reach the monkey forest, Beth/Mona choose “sandy bottom.”   They have to go to a brick-making shop that’s located about 200 yrds. uphill from a river, where there’s sand used in brick-making. They have to each take a large basket, carry it to the river, fill it with sand, and then carry the load back on their heads. Two trips are necessary to get enough sand to finish the challenge. One of the women later estimates they carrried at
least 30-40 lb. each on their heads.  Being willing to perform such work w/o complaining is one indication of how and why this underdog team eventually made top three.

Pam/Winnie are first to complete the fruit challenge and get their next clue.  Dave/Connor are 2nd, Max/Katie 3rd, Caroline/Jen 4th.

Team JJ go to the wrong address. They build an offering of flowers and candy before they realize their mistake.

Bates/Anthony finally get to the monkey forest, feed a monkey a coconut, and get their clue capsule. They want to do “sandy bottom” but their navigation-challenged cabbie doesn’t know where to go, so they decide to switch to “fruity top.”

Pam/Winnie are 1st to arrive at the roadblock. The location is a good one: a beautiful chain of beaches with high cliffs and coves, all criss-crossed with confusing walkways and stairways going up and down and all over. Somewhere in this tangle of paths and stairs is an outdoor surfboard shop with racks and racks of surfboards. At another location within this tangle is Phil and the pit stop mat.

Instructions are for one team member to search through the racks of surfboards for one that has a picture of something (or someone) the teams have “encountered” along the race. We the viewing audience are told it’s a decal of the Tahitian priest who blessed the travellers two episodes ago, but the teams don’t know that.

Once the team member has selected a surfboard, the team must find Phil. He’ll tell them whether they’ve made the correct selection. If they have, he checks them in, if not, they have to start over until they do it right.

Back at the fruit challenge, the back-of-the-pack teams are struggling. The hockey players arrive, happy they’ve caught up. Team JJ start their fruit tower over again.

The four front-running teams are on the roadblock course at the same time. The Asian woman selects a surfboard. She tries to hide the picture on it from Connor but he sneaks a peek anyway. From that, he knows to select a surfboard with a decal of the Tahitian priest on it. He finds his father, and they find Phil before Pam and Winnie do. For coming in 1st on this leg, they win $5,000 each.

Max recognizes a picture on a surfboard as, “the priest that married me and Katie.” They come in 3rd.

Back at the fruit towers, John/Jessica bicker about using their express pass, but decide to switch detours instead. When they get to the brickmaker’s, they again consider using their pass but decide to complete the task instead. By this time Beth/Mona have left the “sandy bottom” detour, so JJ may not be fully aware of the running order.

While Team You Tube and Chuck/Wynona finish their fruit towers at one detour site, Caroline is having trouble selecting a surfboard at the RB. She has to go to Phil three times before she and Jen finally get it right. They finish 4th, however.

Chuck/Wynona are the 5th team at the beach, just ahead of Team You Tube and Beth/Mona. Chuck picks a surfboard and then wastes much time trying to find his wife and then find Phil in the tangle of beaches, coves, stairs and walkways.  He later guesses, he ran about 10 miles. It’s an exaggeration but it probably felt like 10 miles.

Team You Tube gets to Phil just ahead of Beth/Mona. Joey has the right board.  The women don’t but he shows her his so she can get the right one next trip.

By this time the hockey players have arrived and the redheaded one is at the surfboard shop. The three teammates waiting for their partners to finish the task wonder where Team JJ are.

Beth/Mona get to the mat a 2nd time, just ahead of Chuck/Wynona. The women have a board with the correct picture. Chuck doesn’t. Phil asks if she wants to show him her board but she declines. Chuck has to try again.

Bates/Anthony find Phil. They have the correct picture on their board. They’re team #7.

Chuck and John are the last players doing the challenge. John must just be a laid-back Californian with no competitive instinct, because he doesn’t grab his partner with one hand and his express pass with the other and race to Phil, even though it’s his last chance to finish ahead of Chuck and Wynona. Even after Chuck/Wynona finish in 8th place and the only hope for Team JJ is that this is a non-elimination round (not likely), John still struggles to complete the task.  He could use the express pass and end his misery, at least, but he doesn’t.

The screen shows an hr. and 15 min. elapse while John gets the wrong board, then tries again, as daylight fades into night. Finally he and Jessica check in and show the right board, but they become the 1st team in TAR history to be eliminated while holding an unused express pass.
