The nine remaining stylists must incorporate flowers into their hairstyles for this week’s shortcut challenge, which will be judged by Canadian celebrity stylist, Harry Josh. During the elimination round, the stylists leave the comfort of the salon to attend a real Indian wedding. When the ceremony ends, they are charged with the task of styling the bridesmaids’ hair before the wedding reception begins while over four hundred guests await their grand entrance. In their third shortcut challenge, the remaining stylists are presented with a unique twist on extensions – applying them to men to give them sexier, longer looks. The steamy elimination challenge brings the stylists to a ranch that serves as the backdrop for photos for their first cover shoot, romance novels. The stylists work in teams to create sexy and dramatic looks for both a male and a female model. Extensions guru and celebrity stylist Ken Paves joins as guest judge for both challenges.

The competition continues when Kim Vo arrives at the Shear Genius Nexxus salon to explain their next challenge, color repair, in which the stylists must refresh damaged blonde dye jobs. For the elimination challenge, the stylists travel to the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel to create avant-garde hairstyles based on a tasting menu from the hotel’s famed Dakota restaurant. Joel Warren from the styling team of Warren-Tricomi joins as guest judge for this challenge.

Premiere Scores Double Digit Increases In All Demos Versus Season Two

NEW YORK, New York – February 4, 2010 – Bravo’s “Shear Genius” basked in double digit growth and scored its highest rated season premiere ever among total viewers with its third season premiere last night, according to Nielsen Media Research. Wednesday’s premiere garnered 655,000 adults 18-49 and 1.097 total viewers, up 17 percent (vs. 558,000) and 23 percent (vs. 892,000) respectively compared to the season two premiere. Versus the prior four week time period, “Shear Genius” was up 59 percent among adults 18-49 and 55 percent among total viewers.

Online, the “Shear Genius” showsite on www.BravoTV.com was up 125 percent in page views and 250 percent in unique visitors versus the season two premiere day.

First Ever “Shear Genius Salon” Opens At Sundance Film Festival

NEW YORK, New York – January 15, 2010 – Bravo books an appointment with Nexxus Salon Hair Care as the sole integrated sponsor for the upcoming season of the hair-centric hit creative competition series, “Shear Genius,” premiering Wednesday, February 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. “Shear Genius” ended its second season on a high note, scoring 1.879 million adults 18-49 and 2.913 million total viewers, marking a series high across all key demos. In its second season, “Shear Genius” was up an impressive 80 percent in adults 18-49 and 91 percent in total viewers versus the season one average.

Versus the prior season, “Shear Genius” is up a whopping 129 percent among total viewers (vs. 1.046 million) and 116 percent among adults 18-49 (vs. 691,000). Versus last week’s episode, the show was up a notable 25 percent in adults 18-49 (1.490 vs. 1.193 million) and among total viewers (2.399 vs. 1.912 milllion) and season-to-date is up an explosive 51 percent (990,000 vs. 654,000) and 62 percent (1.593 million vs. 986,000) respectively.
