“It’s gonna be a pisser!” Says Griffin Of The Sixth Season

Bravo Debuts Griffin’s All-New One-Hour Stand-Up Comedy Special “Kathy Griffin Does the Bible Belt,” Tuesday, June 8 at 10:00 PM ET/PT

NEW YORK, New York – May 4, 2010 – It almost seems like Kathy Griffin’s on the A-list now, with a guest-starring role on “Law & Order SVU,” A-list friends like Cher, Bette and Liza , more award nominations, and the role as host for the Creative Arts Emmy Awards (a.k.a “Schemmy’s”) last year. But just when Kathy’s enjoying her A-List hosting moment she gets back on the D-List by losing in her category. And so begins season six of Bravo’s two-time Emmy winning series, “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List,” premiering Tuesday, June 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

Flanked by her curious motley crew of peeps – assistant Tiffany Rinehart, tour manager Tom Vize, and mom Maggie – this season Kathy takes on Washington, DC to campaign to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell;” gallivants in Alaska with Levi Johnston and knocks on Sarah Palin’s door; judges a toddler beauty pageant alongside her mom; and continues to stalk A-Listers from Kristen Chenoweth and Liza Minnelli to Lauren Conrad. And when she’s not doing all of that, Griffin juggles her A-List remodel of her palatial compound in Los Angeles and accepts mid-week gigs at Biloxi’s Beau Rivage Casino to support her mom’s rent at a pricey senior living community in Beverly Hills.

Fans will get a precursor to the anticipated sixth season when Bravo debuts her eighth stand-up special on Tuesday, June 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, “Kathy Griffin Does the Bible Belt.” Shot before a live and raucous sold-out crowd at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, TN – and Griffin is giddy about the theatre being on the corner of “Church and Gay” (the venue stands at Church Street and Gay Street) — Griffin takes comedic aim at everyone from Oprah and Gayle to Sharon Stone and hoarders.

In order to expand her fan base, Kathy decides she needs to immerse herself in and become a part of “Young Hollywood” and consults with her girlfriend Rachel True (“The Craft”). Rachel suggests she join Facebook, overhaul her wardrobe and try to get a guest spot on a hip show like “Gossip Girl.” Kathy instead winds up doing a guest spot on the CW show “Privileged.”

Kathy then decides she needs to seek out young Hollywood princess, Paris Hilton. The new BFFs spend the day buying trendy clothes on the paparazzi haven Robertson Blvd, pose for the hundreds of photographers that are trailing their every move, and make a call to fellow BFF Snoop Dog. Meanwhile, Kathy puts her mother in charge of creating her Facebook page. After all, Maggie used to be a trained secretary so this should be right up her ally.

But being nominated is just the beginning of Kathy’s master plan, and to prove she’s finally made it on the A List, Kathy must accomplish what only two other women in history have done – nab that Grammy.

With the help of Team Griffin – tour manager Tom, assistant Tiffany and mom Maggie — Kathy begins cold calling former Grammy winners at their homes to solicit votes. Kathy’s obsession takes her all the way to Canada for a meeting with comedy legend, Lily Tomlin. Being one of only two women to have won a Grammy for Best Comedy Album, getting Ms. Tomlin’s endorsement can only help the cause.

“My Life On The D-List” Season Five Premiere Delivers Nearly One Million Viewers

NEW YORK, New York – The season five premiere of Bravo’s “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” delivered nearly one million total viewers last night, making it the network’s highest rated Monday original series telecast ever in all demographics, according to Nielsen Media Research. “My Life on the D-List” was also up double digits among adults 18-49 versus its season four premiere.

Tracking well ahead of its season four average, last night’s “D-List” premiere was up 17 percent among adults 18-49 (652,000 vs. 558,000) and up 19 percent among total viewers (945,000 vs. 793,000). Season to season, the premiere was also up 15 percent among adults 18-49 (vs. 569,000).

KATHY GRIFFIN: MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST – SEASON 5

The anticipated fifth season of the two-time Emmy winning series “Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List” premieres on Bravo on Monday, June 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Even though Kathy is an Emmy winner, she must still battle life’s indignities as an under-appreciated, shunned and card-carrying member of the celebrity D-List. So Kathy, her assistant Tiffany and her tour manager Tom drop by the Grammy headquarters to see if she might be able to bribe the Grammy people into giving her the award. Later Kathy heads to Vegas to rub A-List elbows with the divine Miss M – that would be Bette Midler. Bette makes Kathy an offer she can’t refuse — a cameo in her lavish stage show at Caesar’s Palace! Against the clock, Kathy has to quickly learn the choreography, improvise a costume and come up with a hilarious zinger for her part in the show.

“I’m An A-Lister In Training!” Says Griffin Of The Fifth Season

NEW YORK, New York – May 28, 2009 – Kathy Griffin will fight the fight for any good cause, whether it’s rallying Grammy voters to nab Best Comedy Album for her nominated CD or tirelessly campaigning to finally get herself off of the D-List. These are just some of the weighty issues Kathy tackles in season five of Bravo’s two-time Emmy winning series, “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List,” premiering Monday, June 8 at 10p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

Season five follows the comedienne as she steps up her game in an effort to increase her star status and land that coveted A-list position. After all, she is a two-time Emmy winner and a bikini model now. Team Griffin – assistant Tiffany Rinehart, tour manager Tom Vize, mom Maggie Griffin and untamed dogs Chance and Pom Pom – will also have their work cut out for them as Kathy puts them to work schmoozing and bribing, all for the cause. First, Kathy learns that any respectable A-Lister must be on Facebook. So naturally Kathy charges 88-year-old Maggie to manage and keep her page updated. Maggie only hopes that as payback some of her favorite A-Listers (like Betty White) will show up one day and bring wine.

Throughout the season, Kathy seeks advice from some of her A-List celebrity friends on how they obtained their status: “See how I fare after tips and lessons from everyone from Paris Hilton to rapper T.I.,” says Kathy of her celebrity adventures. “We’re in Miami with unofficial mayor of Miami, Gloria Estefan, and unofficial deputy mayor, Rosie O’Donnell. I spend the weekend in Savannah at Paula Deen’s house, hit Vegas with Bette Midler, do a casino gig with Lily Tomlin, spend the day in Harlem with Rev Al Sharpton and go to Palm Springs to visit Suzanne Somers’ compound where I pray that Barry Manilow shows up.”

This season Kathy also (unsuccessfully) rallies for a Grammy win for Best Comedy Album, canvasses door to door and on the California state capital for gay marriage rights, and obtains a star on the (Palm Springs) Walk of Fame. Perhaps getting this A-List thing isn’t as easy as Kathy hoped.
