Hit Game Show’s New Season Features Special Themed Shows Including WWE Week, Where Superstar Dolph Ziggler And Divas Eve and Maria Join Host Howie Mandel For A Week Of Episodes

UNIVERSAL CITY, California – September 3, 2009 – NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution and Endemol USA’s hit game show “Deal or No Deal” heads into its second season in national syndication on Monday, September 7 (check local listings). The new season will feature special themed episodes including a week of shows with Superstar Dolph Ziggler and Divas Eve and Maria from World Wrestling Entertainment.

“Deal or No Deal,” which has been renewed in more than 95% of the U.S. for its second season in national syndication, was the #1 new daily series in syndication in its first season (2008/09), averaging more than 2.5 million viewers per episode, according to Nielsen Media Research. The second season of “Deal or No Deal” is currently being taped at Sonalysts Studios in Waterford, Conn.

The new season will feature a number of special themed weeks, including WWE week, when a Superstar and Divas from “Friday Night SmackDown” take over the “Deal or No Deal” stage. WWE Divas Eve and Maria will accompany host Howie Mandel on stage walking each contestant through the game, while WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler will fill in as the guest banker for a week’s worth of episodes. In addition, “Deal or No Deal” this season will feature weeks of shows honoring nurses, teachers, firefighters and police officers from across the country, giving them a chance to win the daily $500,000 top prize.

The half-hour version of the popular game includes all of the key elements that made NBC’s primetime version a breakout hit; Mandel as host, the Banker, models, contestants risking big money and the same award-winning production team from Endemol USA. Mandel walks each contestant through the game, as they play for a huge cash prize in a high-energy contest of nerves, instincts and raw intuition.

The challenge is to see if the monkey will beat Fritze by accepting a better offer. Next to play is Goretty Medeiros, a part time bartender from Fall River, Massachusetts. Medeiros hopes to end a streak of bad luck and to win enough money to open her own bar.

GSN Will Also Create Original Online “Deal Or No Deal” Game

(SANTA MONICA, California) – May 12, 2009 – GSN announced today that beginning June 1, 2009, it will begin airing the first three seasons of the one-hour network version of the hit game show, DEAL OR NO DEAL, hosted by 2008 Emmy Award nominee Howie Mandel. GSN will also debut the entire series run of 1 VS. 100, hosted by Bob Saget, beginning June 6, 2009. “Deal or No Deal” will air Monday-Friday at 7pm & 11pm ET/8 pm PT. “1 vs. 100″ will air Saturdays at 6pm ET/3pm PT and Sundays at 1pm ET.

In addition, GSN will create an original free online flash game version of Deal or No Deal to complement the show.

DEAL OR NO DEAL is a high-energy international hit game show in which contestants strategically unseal 26 briefcases containing amounts of money ranging from one cent to $1 million. In each round, contestants must guess which briefcases contain the most money while a mysterious entity known only as “The Banker” tempts them by making a cash offer in exchange for what is contained in their briefcase.

DEAL OR NO DEAL star Howie Mandel will host GSN’s THE GAME SHOW AWARDS-the very first awards show exclusively aimed at celebrating excellence in the genre of game shows. The two and a half-hour, star-studded extravaganza will premiere on June 6, 2009, at 8PM ET/7PM CT on GSN, and will honor classic and contemporary game shows, with special tributes to pioneers Bob Barker (“The Price is Right”), legendary game show producer Mark Goodson, and host/producer Monty Hall (“Let’s Make a Deal”).

In 1 VS. 100, one player must correctly answer a series of trivia questions as they try to outlast a “mob” of 100 people. If the player successfully answers every trivia question, he or she eliminates the 100-member “mob” and takes home the $1 million grand prize. However, if the player answers incorrectly, the game is over and “the mob” splits the player’s winnings.

New Episodes Feature a Chimpanzee That Plays Against a Contestant, a Musician With an Odd Fear of Styrofoam, an Aspiring Bar Owner and the Banker’s Tribute to the Many Former Contestants From New York

Universal City, California – April 15, 2009 – NBC’s popular game show “Deal or No Deal,” hosted by Howie Mandel, will return with all new episodes starting Monday, May 4. The new episodes will air on May 4 and 11 (8-9 p.m. ET) and two back-to-back episodes are set to air on May 18 (8-10 p.m. ET). Each episode will feature the “Beat the Banker” game where viewers at home can watch and play for a chance to win $10,000.

On May 4, Denise Kinard, a single mom from Bronx, New York (or as she says, “BX!”) hopes to win enough money to open up her own pre-school. But, the banker is sure she will go home with nothing and sends her a message that pays homage to former New York contestants who left with very little money.

The May 11 episode is full of fun and a friend of the banker — a chimpanzee! Kim Jones, who hails from a tiny town in the South, is determined to win a lot of money to help start her own business. Will her southern charm sweet talk the banker? Next, Thomas Fritze, a 25-year-old third generation teacher, is convinced his math knowledge will help him win enough money so he can finally move out of his parents’ house. The banker is not convinced and brings a chimpanzee on the show to prove that it can make a better deal than Fritze.

On May 18, two back-to-back episodes will include an aspiring bar owner and a musician with a strange phobia. Goretty Medeiros is followed everywhere by a black cloud — and she is sure that it’s with her on the “Deal Or No Deal” stage. She predicts that she will only take home $10,000 but is going for the gold regardless in the hopes of opening her own bar. David Lee is a traveling musician who wants to win enough money to replace the van he tours in and to help his musician parents out as well. But, with a strange fear of styrofoam, Lee is hoping to brave the challenges the banker puts in front of him.
