Dan Gheesling Wins Big Brother 10 and the Grand Prize of $500,000

Keesha Won $25,000 during the Live Finale Show After Being Named America’s Favorite Jury Member
After living in the BIG BROTHER house for 71 days, Dan Gheesling emerged triumphant last night (Sept. 16) as the BIG BROTHER grand prize winner of $500,000 based on the votes of his former housemates on the jury. Memphis Garrett will receive $50,000 as the second place winner.

Last night, Dan Gheesling, the 25-year-old Catholic school teacher from Dearborn, Mich., faced a jury consisting of the last seven evicted Houseguests (listed in order of eviction): Libra, April, Michelle, Ollie, Renny, Keesha and Jerry. Brian, Steven, Angie and Jessie and were also present, but were not part of the jury.

After each of the seven jury members had the chance to ask the finalists questions, they voted live on air for who they wanted to win. By a unanimous vote, Dan became the grand-prize winner of $500,000. In addition, a viewer vote for their favorite jury member awarded $25,000 to Keesha.
After leaving BIG BROTHER 10, Dan and Memphis were met by family and former housemates and interviewed by Julie Chen.

THE WINNER OF “BIG BROTHER 10″ WILL BE REVEALED ON THE LIVE SEASON FINALE, TUESDAY, SEPT. 16

Broken promises, broken hearts and broken alliances… It has been another season filled with drama, disagreements and deceptive houseguests. After 71 days in the house, BIG BROTHER 10 will announce the winner on the live finale, Tuesday, Sept. 16 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Will the winner be Dan Ghessing a Catholic school teacher from Dearborn, Michigan or Memphis Garrett a “mixologist” originally from Collierville, Tennessee.

It will be up to the seven sequestered jury members to determine who will win the grand prize of $500,000 on the live BIG BROTHER 10 finale.

The Final “Big Brother 10″ Thursday Eviction Delivers Season Highs in Viewers and Key Demographics

Big Brother 10 delivered its best performances of the summer in viewers and key demographics, according to preliminary Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Thursday, Sept. 11.

The final Big Brother 10 Thursday eviction show was first in households (5.1/09), viewers (7.93m), adults 25-54 (3.3/09) and adults 18-49 (2.7/08), all season highs. Compared to last week, Big Brother 10 Thursday was up +19% in households (from 4.3/07), +14% in adults 25-54 (from 2.9/08), +17% in adults 18-49 (from 2.3/07) and added +1.35m viewers (from 6.58m, +21%).

Jerry was the 11th Houseguest to be evicted last night from the Big Brother 10 house by Dan, who was the only Houseguest eligible to vote.

During Thursday night’s live broadcast, Jerry, a 75-year-old retired marketing executive from Magnolia, Texas, learned his fate and left the House. After leaving Big Brother 10 he was interviewed by host Julie Chen about his experience in the house. Jerry joins Libra, April, Michelle, Ollie, Renny and Keesha as the seventh jury member.

Dan won Part One of the three-part competition on Tuesday. Memphis won Part Two of the competition, called “Big Brother Knockout,” when he correctly identified the HOH and two final nominees on the block for the last 10 weeks. Dan and Memphis faced off for the final leg of the HOH competition called “Last Words.” In it, they had to answer questions based on statements provided by jury members. Dan had the most correct answers and became the final HOH. He chose to evict Jerry guaranteeing that Memphis will at least earn a second place win.
