RECORD-SETTING 55 MILLION VOTES CAST AFTER LAST NIGHT’S “AMERICAN IDOL” PERFORMANCE SHOW

Tonight’s LIVE Results Show Features a Double Elimination and Performances by will.i.am & Jamie Foxx and Fantasia

Last night, after the Top 11 finalists performed the songs of Sir Elton John, more than 55 million votes were cast, setting a new AMERICAN IDOL voting record for this early in the competition.

During the most dramatic results show in IDOL history, finalist Casey Abrams was saved from elimination last Thursday by the AMERICAN IDOL judges after he received the fewest of America’s votes. With the save no longer an option, two finalists will be sent home during the live results show tonight, Thursday, March 31 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

Also tonight, Season Three IDOL winner Fantasia will perform her latest hit, “Collard Greens & Cornbread,” and will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas and Academy Award and Grammy winner Jamie Foxx will perform their first-ever musical collaboration on the IDOL stage. The duo will sing “Hot Wings (I Wanna Party),” an original song written for the highly anticipated animated feature film “Rio.”
