PAST SEASON “BIGGEST LOSER” FAVORITES DANNY CAHILL, MIKE MORELLI AND MARK KRUGER HELP KICK OFF THE MUST-SEE PREMIERE OF NBC’S “THE BIGGEST LOSER” ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 (8-1O P.M. ET)

Season Ten Begins With a New Theme of “Paying It Forward”

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – September 14, 2010 – Season eight “Biggest Loser” winner Danny Cahill, season seven finalist Mike Morelli and season five finalist Mark Kruger help kick off the must-see premiere of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” which starts season 10 on Tuesday, September 21 (8-10 p.m. ET) with a new theme of “paying it forward.”

Jillian Michaels

The season begins with trainers Bob Harper, Jillian Michaels and host Alison Sweeney traveling to seven cities, with each trainer “paying it forward” by leading community fitness challenges like a one-mile race or a 500 step-up competition. Season eight winner Danny Cahill will be on hand to help in Oklahoma City, while season five finalist Mark Kruger helps kick things off in Boston and season seven finalist Mike Morelli heads to Portland. In those cities as well as Detroit, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Phoenix, there will also be three contestant hopefuls competing in the challenges. The two candidates who complete their fitness challenge first win a spot at the ranch, while those who don’t make it will get a chance to compete for a spot at the ranch in a later episode.

The contestants’ individual stories are compelling, from Shanna (Pima, Arizona), a math teacher and mother of four who recently beat grade-three breast cancer and is ready to now battle obesity, to Elizabeth (Lawrence, Massachusetts), a woman who associates her weight gain with an abusive and unhappy marriage, and Brendan (Boston, Massachusetts), a special education teacher who wants to be a better role model to his students and who pushed away his former fiancée because he couldn’t deal with his weight issues.

Viewers will also meet Ada (San Francisco, California), whose unsupportive parents wrongly blamed her for a family tragedy, Anna (Atlanta, Georgia), a songwriter who began gaining weight after the devastating loss of her three-year-old son to cancer, and Adam (Santa Ana, California), who hopes to lose weight and honor his mother, who died at age 51 from heart failure brought on by complications of diabetes and obesity.

“The Biggest Loser” is a production of Reveille LLC, 25/7 Productions and 3Ball Productions. Ben Silverman (NBC’s “The Office,” “Ugly Betty”), Dave Broome (“A Model Life with Petra Nemcova,” “Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope”), JD Roth (“Age of Love,” “Beauty and the Geek”), Todd A. Nelson (“Unan1mous,” “Beauty and the Geek”), Mark Koops (“MasterChef,” “Losing It With Jillian”) and Todd Lubin (“30 Days,” “Nashville Star”) serve as executive producers.
