UNIVERSAL CITY, California – NBC’s “The Biggest Loser: Couples” contestants are surprised by the return of the blue and yellow teams this week, and all of the players face a strenuous Super Bowl-themed football challenge on Tuesday, February 2 at a special time of 9-11 p.m. ET. A one-hour recap of the previous week’s episode will air from 8-9 p.m. ET. The show will return to its regular timeslot of 8-10 p.m. ET on Tuesday, February 9.
The blue and yellow teams went home after the first challenge in week one of “The Biggest Loser: Couples,” but what the rest of the contestants didn’t know is that they planned to return 30 days later to try and win a spot back on the ranch. Now they are back to weigh in and show America how much they’ve lost on their own at home – and the team with the highest percentage of weight loss wins their spot back in the game. They also win immunity – and the enormous responsibility of having the only vote at this week’s elimination.
In honor of Super Bowl week, the contestants face a football tackling challenge that will test their stamina and give the winning team a coveted prize – and a big disadvantage for the losing team. And while trainer Bob Harper resolves his issue with the red team this week, one female contestant has an emotional breakthrough when trainer Jillian Michaels tries to get to the root of why she was overweight in the first place. Then another contestant heads home after a nerve-wracking and emotional weigh-in.
Nick Jonas makes a special appearance in this week’s Pound For Pound Challenge segment, volunteering his time at the North Texas Food Bank. He’ll also be seen singing his single “Who I am,” his first solo, at the House of Blues in Dallas. “The Biggest Loser” is partnering with General Mills, Feeding America, Subway and 24 Hour Fitness on the Pound For Pound Challenge which allows viewers to help themselves get healthy while helping to fight hunger in their own communities. Viewers can go to www.biggestloser.com now and for every pound of weight loss pledged, a pound of groceries will be delivered to a local food bank. More than 3.5 million pounds have been pledged to date.
“The Biggest Loser: Couples” is a production of Reveille LLC, 25/7 Productions and 3Ball Productions. Ben Silverman (NBC’s “The Office,” “Ugly Betty“), Dave Broome (“A Model Life with Petra Nemcova,” “Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope”), JD Roth (“Age of Love,” “Beauty and the Geek”), Todd A. Nelson (“Unan1mous,” “Beauty and the Geek”) and Mark Koops (“Breakthrough With Tony Robbins,” “Shear Genius“) serve as executive producers.
