THREE CONTENDERS REMAIN… BUT ONLY ONE STAR WILL OUTSHINE THE REST, ON THE FINAL NIGHT OF ABC’S “DANCING WITH THE STARS”
Whitney Houston Performs
In Tuesday’s two-hour Finale, the competition continues as the three finalists perform their favorite dance of the season and are ranked by the judges. Also on Tuesday, all 16 couples from Season 9 will return to the dance floor for special performances. “Iron Chef America” star Mark Dacascos and UFC champion Chuck Liddell battle it out in a dance floor face-off, while Season 2 competitor Jerry Rice and this season’s Michael Irvin take their good natured rivalry to the dance floor for a dance-off, and Cloris Leachman, Steve Wozniak and Jerry Springer will dance in a competition Mambo. “Roast Master” Jeffrey Ross returns to induct Ashley Hamilton to the “Loser’s Club” and Adam Carolla returns as “The Coach” for the finalists. In addition, The Muppets, who were featured earlier this season in Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff’s week two quick step, will make a return appearance in the finale.
In a special performance for the “Dancing with the Stars” Tuesday night finale, Whitney Houston livens up the dance floor with her second single, “Million Dollar Bill,” from her seventh and most recent studio album, “I Look to You,” released in August 2009. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at number 1 with sales of 305,000, beating her previous career best of 205,000 with “Just Whitney” in 2002. This also gave her a fourth chart-topping album and extended her lead as the female artist with the most cumulative weeks at the number 1 position.
Houston will make a spectacular second performance, singing her chart topping hit single, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” from her second studio album, “Whitney,” released in 1987. The album became the first by a female artist ever to debut at #1 in the Billboard 200, and produced a then-record equaling four #1 singles from one album. Accompanying her will be “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancers Mark Ballas, Cheryl Burke, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Chelsie Hightower, Alec Mazo, Jonathan Roberts, Lacey Schwimmer, Edyta Sliwinska and Anna Trebunskaya.
All the excitement and frenzy will lead up to the moment we’ve all been waiting for – who among the three finalists will win reign as champions of “Dancing with the Stars” and take home the coveted mirror ball trophy?
