Season 2 saw an impressive eight of the Top 20 dancers hail from Ontario. Now, auditions for the third season of CTV’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA return to the dance hot bed beginning Saturday, November 14 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in the John Bassett Theatre, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. ET. Only time will tell if the talent in Toronto can make Mary Murphy scream, but dancers will also have to break it down for judges Jean Marc Genereux, Tré Armstrong and Luther Brown. Hopefuls from across the country will audition to see if they can follow in the footsteps of Canada’s two Favourite Dancers – Tara-Jean Popowich from Lethbridge, AB and Nico Archambault from Montreal, QC.
The SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Season 3 cross-country auditions are open to all Canadians who, as of November 14, 2009, are of the age of majority in the province/territory in which they reside, and are no older than 30 years of age. The age of majority in Ontario is 18.
Members of the media will not only have the opportunity to come and check out this year’s talented hopefuls as they get ready to audition, but can also talk to the show’s cast with three different interview opportunities.

INTERVIEW OPS: Friday, November 13 – Judge Jean Marc Genereux and guest judge Mary Murphy are in Toronto and available for in person interviews (please request your interview time in advance).
Saturday, November 14 – Auditions begin at 8 a.m. ET (if you would like to cover the line-up please arrive prior to 8 a.m.). Host Leah Miller will be available for interviews on site at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre at approximately 9 a.m. and choreographer Blake McGrath will also be available at select times throughout the day.
Sunday, November 15 – Host Leah Miller, Judges Jean Marc Genereux, Tré Armstrong, Luther Brown and Mary Murphy as well as choreographer Blake McGrath will be available for select interviews (please request your interview time in advance).
Toronto is the first stop on the cross-country audition tour for SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA which will be visiting Montreal on November 28 and Vancouver on December 5. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. in all cities. Auditions will also be coming to Calgary and an East Coast City to be announced. The Toronto auditions have produced numerous Top 20 dancers from Ontario including nine in Season 1 and eight for Season 2 which include: Tatiana Parker from Toronto (Top 20), Melanie Buttarazzi from Woodbridge (Top 18), Jenna Lynn Higgins from Toronto (Top 16), Danny Lawn from Brockville (Top 14), Austin Di Iulio from Mississauga (Top 10), Cody Bonnell from Unionville (Top 8), Melanie Mah from Richmond Hill (Top 6) and Everett Smith from Glen Morris (Top 4).
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA is designed to showcase and judge the talent of Canadian dancers who have roughly the same level of experience and maturity.
Among the rules and regulations that should be noted for the auditions:
* Competitors must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
* All competitors must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Competitors must be of the age of majority in the province/territory in which they reside and no older than 30 years of age as of November 14, 2009. The age of majority is as follows: 18 years of age in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Saskatchewan; and 19 years of age in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut and Yukon.
All competitors must provide two pieces of identification, including a government-issued photo ID (e.g. driver’s license or passport), at the audition.
Competitors may bring a non-competing dance partner for purposes of the audition.
All competitors must bring with them, along with the proper ID, the signed personal release, the completed preliminary questionnaire, and the music sheet. All will be available at the audition site and for download at dance.ctv.ca.
All competitors are asked to bring with them the completed music sheet indicating the music they will use in their audition, along with the CD containing the indicated music.
All songs must be “original” songs that are commercially available. A song must not be a re-mix of a song, a song downloaded from the Internet, or a competitor-created mix.
Competitors will not be permitted to audition in any article of clothing with a visible designer, sports or other logo; artwork; name; photo; or other mark which may be subject to protection by copyright or trademark laws.
