BEYONCÉ WILL PRESENT CHALLENGES TO THE CREWS VIA PERSONALIZED VIDEO MESSAGES
NEW YORK, New York (August 13, 2009) – After surviving their first elimination in season four’s premiere episode, the eight remaining dance crews of MTV’s hit reality dance competition series “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew” now face their first test of the season as multi-platinum recording artist Beyoncé provides the second episode’s challenge. Airing Sunday, August 16, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, 8 p.m. Central, “America’s Best Dance Crew” will get a dose of “Sasha Fierce,” as superstar Beyoncé addresses each crew in personalized messages that reveal their spec if ic challenges based on her world-famous music and groundbreaking videos.
Crews will have to bring their “B”-game in order to both master and put their own spin on Beyoncé’s iconic choreography, while dancing to chart-toppers from the megastar. Hits will include “Crazy In Love” and “Déjà Vu,” in addition to the club-bangers “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” and “Sweet Dreams” from her multi-platinum current album I AM…SASHA FIERCE. The Beyoncé challenge continues the show’s tradition of producing episodes dedicated entirely to the music of exceptional performers such as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears and Missy Elliot.
On August 9, the season four premiere of “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew” delivered big in its new Sunday night home and timeslot, rating a 1.8 in the P12-34 demo and averaging 2.3 total viewers. Improving upon its time period by triple digit percentages, the show ranked #1 in its time period across all of television among P12-24 and was the #1 telecast of the day across of television among females 18-24.
“Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew” is hosted by Mario Lopez and shot on location in Los Angeles as dance crews of five to seven members perform their hottest moves for dance supremacy and a $100,000 cash prize. Every performance-themed episode gives insight into the crews’ emotion, spirit and inspiration as they step up to the challenge and showcase their innovative choreography and skills. Viewers from around the country choose their favorite crews via text messaging and online voting (http://dancecrew.mtv.com). The two crews with the least number of votes will be up for elimination with the judges – JC Chasez, Lil Mama and Shane Sparks – making the final call on which crew will be sent home. Correspondent Layla Kayleigh covers all the backstage reactions as one crew is eliminated each week, ultimately revealing the nation’s best dance crew.
