The girls were surprised when Jay and Miss J came into the loft, preparing them for runway. One at a time the girls walked, some impressing Miss J. Linsay was told that she did really well, and that Miss J thought she was lying about being from a small town with no modeling experience. Miss J critiqued Maryam for walking with her head down, and Nikita for walking with her bottom out too far.
The girls arrived at Toronto’s Ultra Lounge where they found Miss J twirling around in a dress made out of Cashmere Bathroom Tissue. They discovered they would be wrapped in bathroom tissue for their challenge, and would have to walk an obstacle course runway without destroying their dress. As the girls walk, their dresses of bathroom tissues unraveled. Nikita managed to hold hers together the best, but the girls learned that this wasn’t the real challenge; the real challenge was to model couture dresses made of Cashmere Bathroom Tissue. Hand-crafted by Canadian designers, the dresses were designed for the White Cashmere Collection to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Miss J told the girls that the challenge was to sell the dresses without them tearing apart. The wardrobe stylist reiterated again and again how important it was for the girls to be careful with the dresses, and respect that they were pieces that belonged to a museum. As two stylists were helping Linsay put on her dress, Maryam reached over to help, but accidentally ripped the dress. While Maryam said it was only a tiny bit ripped, the other girls said that it was a huge rip. Linsay was first to walk, with a dress designed by Thien Le, and was worried he would think she ripped the dress. Maryam was next in a dress by David Dixon, and repeatedly looked down on the runway. Nikita wore a dress designed by Joyce Gunhouse for Comrags and Meaghan wore one by Lucian Matis. Meaghan’s dress was too big, and she had to hold it up with her hand on her hip.
As the girls came back out for their evaluation, Linsay tripped up the stairs. Maryam said that Linsay had turned a small rip much bigger, and that it wasn’t completely her fault, but Linsay said that it had already been ripped before she took a step. Miss J and the designers discussed the finalists. They thought that Meaghan was a little stiff, while Linsay held the dress well and was a favourite of some of the designers; Maryam kept looking at the floor and Nikita, while she fit the dress well, would be better for editorial than catwalk. The girls were called back out and it was announced that Linsay was the challenge winner. For her prize, she went shoe shopping at Holt Renfrew with Miss J.
Back at the loft, Nikita and Meaghan did a confessional about Maryam ripping the dress, and took turns commenting on her behaviour. When they came out, they were worried Maryam had heard them talking about her.
The girls received a ‘Jay Mail’ about how a magazine is always judged by its cover, and headed to Toronto’s Distillery District for a CoverGirl photo shoot with Mike Ruiz. Ruiz explained how he was shooting an actual ad for CoverGirl Exact Eyelights, and the winner of Canada’s Next Top Model would have her ad featured nationwide. Nikita was worried she was too edgy for CoverGirl. Linsay was up first. Nolé and Mike both agreed that she had done a good job. Maryam went up second. Nolé explained to her how she had to be soft, not fierce, and she really blew them away. Meaghan went up next, and her confidence and focus were lost after repeatedly having changes to her hair and makeup, causing her to break down. Mike changed his perception of her and wondered if she really could pull it off, while Nolé deemed her the biggest disappointment of the day. Nikita was the last to go, and surprised Mike and Nolé with her soft shots. Back at the loft, Meaghan and Nikita were not confident and said that they were expecting to go home. A ‘Jay Mail’ told the girls there would be eliminations the next day.
At elimination, the girls one by one had to come in to walk. Yet again, Linsay impressed Miss J with her walk, but Meaghan immediately showed her lack of confidence from her poor performance in the photo shoot. Maryam upset the judges by looking down again.
Each girl was told that they had done a good job at the photo shoot. Linsay was up first, and was praised for her strong walk and beautiful photo. Maryam was told she performed well, and was Nolé’s favorite of the day to shoot, but had sadness in her eyes and expression. Nikita and Meaghan showed little confidence, Meaghan for the wardrobe changes and Nikita for not looking like a CoverGirl, and critiqued their own photos, which the judges liked.
Before evaluating the photos, Jay told the girls that he had gotten word from the designers that one of the dresses was ripped, and asked for an explanation. Linsay, whose dress was ripped, explained that Maryam had tried to help but ripped the dress a significant amount. Maryam said that it was only a little rip, but Meaghan and Nikita sided with Linsay.
Linsay was called first for the second week in a row, but was told that nobody got photo of the week this week. Nikita, despite her lack of confidence, was called next for blowing the judges away with her photo. Meaghan and Maryam landed in the bottom two. Jay told Meaghan she had a slow rise and at the first sign of trouble, came crashing down. He told Maryam she has shown she can consistently overcome hurdles but the judges worry that the industry just won’t put up with all the complications. He said a lot of heated arguments and tears ensued and asked what was harder to overcome – a complicated life or a lack of confidence? In the end Meaghan was told she needed to find a way to get over her confidence issue, while Maryam was eliminated.
