The Biggest Loser – A History of the Winners

Here is a rundown of the previous seasons of The Biggest Loser.

Season 1 – October 19, 2004 – December 14, 2004 – The winner was Ryan Bensen who weighed in at 208 pounds at the finale. With a starting weight of 330 pounds his total weight loss was 122 pounds or 36.97%. Ryan has been reported to have gained back all his weight. His trainer was Jillian.

Season 2 – September 13, 2005 – November 29, 2005 – The winner was Matt Hoover who weighed 182 at the finale. His starting weight was 339 and his loss of 157 was 46.31%. Matt married third place contestant Suzy Preston and they now have two children. His trainer was Jillian. Matt is now a motivational speaker and exercise training coach and last year released a book Matt Hoover’s Guide to Life, Love, and Losing Weight.

Season 3 – September 20 – November 29, 2006 – The winner was Erik Chopin who weighed 193 at the finale. His starting weight was 407 with his 214 pound loss coming in at 52.58%. Before season 4 a reunion show revealed that Erik was then at 231 pounds. His trainer was Bob. Kim Lyons replace Jillian this season. His percentage of loss is the highest of The Biggest Losers to date winners. Erik appeared on the Oprah show in January to discuss the fact he had regained a total of 122 pounds.

Season 4 – September 11 – December 18, 2007 – The winner this season was Bill Germanakos who weighed 170 at the finale. His starting weight was 334 making his 164 pound loss 49.1%. His twin brother Jim was the at home winner losing even more 51.52%. His trainer was Jillian who returned to train the castoff Black team. On last weekend’s episode of Huckabee on FOX News Bill appeared promoting a healthy lifestyle and appeared to still be trim and fit.

Season 5 – January 1 – April 15, 2008 – The winner this season was the first U.S. female champ Ali Vincent weighing in at 122 at the finale. Her starting weight was 234 making her 112 pounds lost 47.9%. Ali returned this season on episode 13 to cover hosting duties (with former winner Michelle Aguilar) on one episode during Alison Sweeny’s maturity leave appearing to have maintained her weight. Her trainer was Jillian.

Season 6 – September 16 – December 16, 2008 – The winner was Michelle Aguilar who weighed 132 at the finale. She started at 242 pounds losing 110 or 45.45%. Contestant Heba won the at home competition actually losing a bigger percentage 46.37%. Michelle appeared on episode 13 of the current season (with former winner Ali Vincent) during Alison Sweeny’s maturity leave appearing to have maintained her weight. Her trainer was Jillian.

And the finalists this season….

Season 7 – Began January 6 – The final four contestants are Helen (40.1% lost so far), Mike (42.3% lost so far), Ron (32.8% lost so far) and Tara (42.5% lost so far).
