The Biggest Loser Week 7 First aired March 24, 2009
After the elimination, the Black team was shocked to see Aubrey still on the ranch and Cathy gone. Aubrey admitted that Cathy volunteered to go home so Aubrey could stay. Kristin was struggling with not having her mom there and Tara gave her a hug.
The next day, Ali told the players that they will now play as individuals, with their original colors restored to them—a change that pleases all of the players. Mike had lost the most weight on the ranch and Ali held up his original Brown shirt, which several people could fit into at once. Ali also told the players they could choose their own trainers.
Bob and Jillian arrived to hear the contestant’s decisions. Jillian though it was a cruel scenario, akin to choosing between your mother and your father. Sione, Filipe, Ron, Kristin and Aubrey chose Bob, while Helen, Mike, Laura, and Tara chose Jillian. The players all hit the gym to train with their chosen trainers. Kristin became frustrated at Bob’s intense focus on Sione and Filipe, and the two had a talk in which she explained that she needed him a lot if she was to reach her goal of being the first woman to lose 100 pounds on the ranch. Bob dedicated himself to her.
The players met Ali outside for a challenge: each was given blocks that represented the amount of weigh they have lost, and were able to distribute that weight to any of the other players, with the totals to be used later for their next, unknown challenge. Most of the other players piled their weights onto Tara, meaning that she ended up with 257 pounds of extra weight. Tara became upset, while the other players laughed and told her it’s all in fun. Tara walked away in tears, and Aubrey tried to comfort her, but Tara brushed her off. Later, Laura spoke with her, and Tara told her she wanted to throw the next weigh in and go home. Laura talked her out of it, and Tara emerged more determined than ever to defeat the others to show them she can win despite their opposition. Helen also had a lot of weight piled on her—Ron says that she “left the fold” (by choosing Jillian), and needed to be warned as a result. Helen takes it as a compliment to the level of threat she posed.
The next challenge began: the contestants were taken to a NASCAR track with broken down cars each painted in the players’ colors. NASCAR champion Clint Bowyer showed up to tell them about the second part of the challenge. The players would each pull their assigned car for half a mile, with the weight from the previous activity added to their car. Initially, Sione took the lead, followed by Mike. Tara fell behind. Yet as the race went on, she gradually gained on the others, and eventually won, despite the extra pounds. Her reward was immunity, a ride around the track in a racecar, and a trip to a NASCAR event. Tara joyfully shared news of her upset victory with Jillian.
At the weigh-in, Tara needed to lose four pounds to become the first woman to lose 100 pounds on the ranch. She fell just shy, at three pounds. Kristin, who needed to lose three pounds to reach her goal of 100, was then weighed in. She lost eight pounds, making her the first woman to lose a hundred pounds on the ranch. All the players gave her a wild round of applause. Ron lost ten pounds, and worried because Mike is second to last in weight loss for the week, meaning that Ron pushed his son closer to the yellow line. Ultimately, Aubrey and Filipe found themselves below the yellow line. At the vote, the players voted along original team lines, with all of the original Bob Team members voting for Aubrey, and only Tara and Laura voting for Filipe. Aubrey goes home. At home, Aubrey did not go regularly to the gym because of family demands, and gained back nine pounds in her first three weeks back home. She then realized she needed to stand up for herself, and when she did her family finally respected her needs; she lost the nine pounds that she gained, and ten more.
