ALL-NEW DISCOVERY SERIES CELEBRATES THE INGENUITY OF INVENTORS AND THE ART OF SELLING THEIR PRODUCTS

– PITCHMEN Premieres Wednesday, April 15 at 10PM ET/PT

(Silver Spring, Maryland) Billy Mays and Anthony “Sully” Sullivan are two names synonymous with products so indispensible that you can’t live without them and the revelation usually comes at 3 a.m. in the form of an infomercial. Mays and Sullivan have sold millions of cleaners, sweepers, kitchen gadgets and other miracle products to people all over the world. What is the story behind these pitchmen? And who are the inventors who come up with the imaginative products being sold? Go behind the curtain and peek into the world of the clever inventors and the equally clever men who sell their products in PITCHMEN, premiering Wednesday, April 15 at 10PM ET/PT.

This all-new 13-part original series introduces viewers to the dreamers, tinkerers and inventors who believe they have created the next must-have product. If these everyday geniuses can enlist the help of Sully and Mays to sell their goods, they may stand a chance of turning their products into household namesand turning a hefty profit for themselves.

From the initial boardroom pitch to product reactions on the streets to filming the actual infomercial, this revealing series will change the way you look at the seemingly ordinary products under your sink or in your toolshed. And just as fascinating are the inventive people who identified a need and created those products.

PITCHMEN is produced for Discovery Channel by Original Productions. For Original Productions, Thom Beers, Philip D. Segal, Billy Mays, Anthony Sullivan and Chris Wilson are executive producers. Jeff Conroy is co-executive producer and Steve Jones is series producer. For Discovery Channel, Chris Rantamaki is executive producer.

This is a concept that has fascinated me for 40 years. I’m in the ad business and these guys are the real McCoy. Its only because of them that I can do my job effectively. They are my inspiration.

If there is a possibility and its not too late, you must check out a guy named BOB STAATS. He is the first real pitchman I ever met and he did it at carnivals. He sold knives, furniture polish and girlie playing cards. Never on TV, but for real. He was the inspiration for the TV guys.

Can’t wait to see this show.

I cannot begin to understand how the likes of Billy Mays can be an inspiration. I detest his style and the YELLING and resent his intrusion into my home. I mute the tv or change channels the very second I hear him and I will never watch this series and I have never bought any products he pushes. I saw him on Leno and he was pushy and obnoxious but spoke in a modulated tone so I was able to stand it. But that over dyed beard and hair is just ridiculous. It’s like guys wearing a comb over or a solid color toupee (no grey) when they are in the 60′s. Please ! We’ve been dumbed down enough the past 8 years. Let’s raise the bar and give viewers something interesting and entertaining, not ear piercing and blood pressure raising.
