ONE INJURED RACER MAKES A GAME ALTERING DECISION IN GERMANY WHILE ANOTHER TAKES A WRONG TURN AND FIND THEMSELVES LOST ON A SECLUDED MOUNTAIN, ON “THE AMAZING RACE,” SUNDAY, FEB. 22 ON CBS

“Your Target Is Your Partner’s Face (Germany)” – An injured Racer finds their Team’s destiny in Mother Nature’s hands and must make a game changing decision, while another Racer’s hopes are pinned to a mountain rescue, on The Amazing Race 14, Sunday, Feb. 22 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Last week the teams started in Los Alamitos, California and had to fly to to Zürich, Switzerland and move on to to the Church of San Antonio in Locarno. Upon arrival at the Church of San Antonio, teams signed up for one of three departure times, all of which were the following morning. At the departure time, the priest gave them a picture similar to the one pictured at right, and teams were left to figure out that the picture was of the Verzasca Dam.

In the first Roadblock of the race, one member of the team had to bungee jump off the Verzasca Dam, the second highest commercial bungee in the world, at a height of 70 stories.

At Kleine Rugen Weise, teams had to transport 200 pounds of cheese (four wheels) from a shed to the bottom of the hill using traditional Swiss cheese carriers. Once the cheese was stacked, they would get the next clue. Upon arrival in Stechelberg, teams had to listen for the greeters’ yodeling to locate the Pit Stop.

Dating couple Preston & Jennifer were the last to arrive and the first to be eliminated.

This 14th group of Racers features an eclectic cast that includes a Team of brothers who are stuntmen, a pair of flight attendants, a brother/sister Team who are Harvard educated lawyers, an accomplished feature film writer/producer/actor and his father, a Team of former NFL cheerleaders and the Race’s first ever deaf contestant and his mother. For the first time in the history of the Race, Teams will travel to Romania and Siberia, and cover 40,000 miles and nine countries in just 22 days.
The Amazing Race recently won its sixth straight Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

THE AMAZING RACE 14 will send 11 teams – each comprised of two people who have a pre-existing relationship with one another – on a trek around the world for 22 days. At every destination, each couple will have to compete in a series of challenges – some mental and some physical – and only when the tasks have been completed will they learn their next destination. Couples who are farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first team to arrive at the final destination winning $1 million.

Mel, a gay rights activist, has worked as a writer, professor, filmmaker and a pastor and is eager to have a once in a lifetime experience with his youngest child.
