The Biggest Loser 7 – Week 7 2/17/09 Episode Recap

February 18th, 2009 · No Comments

Last night on The Biggest Loser the contestants were faced with another Pop Challenge. Allison met them in front of the gym and told them that only two teams will have access to the gym for the entire week. The contestants must all run up a mountain to a board with 130 keys on it, pick a key, and run back down and see if it fits one of the two locks that are attached to the gym doors. Tara and Sione took an early lead, speeding past the other players, while Ron was stuck in the back because of his knee. Mike felt bad for his dad, but he soon realized that the other players were also taking care of him, making sure he got through the tough spots on the mountain okay.

Mike and Ron both mentioned how good all the people there are. Tara was frustrated because she felt like Laura wasn’t pulling her weight, and if they get locked out of the gym, there would be no way that Tara could compensate for her. On their final trip up the mountain, Helen and Shanon talked about how Bob taught them to “take a step back and just look at the big picture” and to “use their third eye”. Shanon grabbed a key and was ecstatic to find out that she had found the first correct key. This meant the Pink Team is one of the teams who would have access to the gym this week, and there was only one more key up for grabs. Mike got it for the Brown Team, and while Ron was so proud of his son, Tara was distraught. So the Pink and the Brown Teams (both Bob’s Trainees) would have the gym to themselves, and everyone else would be forced to do workouts without the gym.

Jillian Michaels

Bob and Jillian were both reunited with their teams. When Jillian walked in and saw that Dane was there, not Blaine, she was surprised. She thought the others would get rid of Dane because of how big of a threat he is. She and her team mentioned how they overheard Bob telling his team to get rid of Dane, and Jillian said Bob hates it when his team disobeys him. When Bob talked to his team and realized that they didn’t listen to him, he was indeed mad and told them not to ask his advice anymore. Then, they told him about the Pop Challenge, and he was so happy to find out that Helen and Shanon & Mike and Ron had the keys to the gym. Jillian was kind of mad because she “is not an outdoorsy girl”.

Jillian used the living room for her team to train, and Bob took the Purple and Blue Teams outside to the “prison yard” to workout with lawn furniture. Sione commented that even though they don’t have the gym equipment it was just another day of torture from Bob. Meanwhile Helen and Shanon were turning Jillian’s side of the gym into a lounge, and when Bob came to check on them, he thought it was hilarious, but he reminded them that this was not the time to slack off, and they would have to workout hard still.

At the immunity challenge, there were rowing machines, and Allison told them that they would be rowing these machines to keep these big lights behind them green. If the light turned yellow, it was a warning that the person needs to get their power back up. If one team member’s light turned red, both team members were out of the challenge. Dane thought he has an advantage being without a partner because he had no one else to depend on besides himself. The Brown Team was out first. They were followed by the Yellow, Pink, Purple then Blue Teams. It got down to Dane and Tara and Laura. Laura wanted to win so badly to prove to Tara and everyone else that she was working hard and wants to be there. However, it just wasn’t enough, and her light turns red, which meant the Green Team was out and Dane had won immunity for the week.

At the weigh-in, Dane lost only four pounds, so he was lucky that he had immunity or he would have been eliminated. Kristin loses 14 pounds, completely going past the 300 mark, which was her goal for the week, leaving her at 289 pounds, but Cathy only lost one pound. Filipe lost 7 pounds, and Sione 8 pounds, and Sione broke the 300 mark, as well. Laura lost 8 and Tara lost 7, which made Laura happy because she beat Tara. They win the weigh-in. Mandi lost 5. Aubrey lost 7. They are definitely safe from elimination. When Helen and Shanon get on the scale, Allison warned them they need to lose more than ten pounds, but the only lost 9, Helen 6 and Shanon 3. Finally, the Brown Team got on the scale and Allison says they had to lose at least 14 pounds to be safe. Ron was scared because he knew how little he’s been able to do because of his knee. But the results came up and Mike had lost 10 and Ron lost 7, which meant they were safe from elimination. Helen and Shanon of the Pink Team are below the yellow line.

Summary:

Team Black, Dane, -4 pounds total 1.22%% (Dane had immunity)
Team Green, Tara, -7 lbs and Laura, -8 lbs, -15 pounds total 3.14%
Team Yellow, Mandi, -5 lbs and Aubrey, -7 lbs, -12 pounds total 2.74%
Team Blue, Filipe, -7 lbs and Sione, -9 lbs, -16 pounds total 2.65%
Team Brown, Ron, -7 lbs and Mike, -10 lbs, -17 pounds total 2.51%
Team Purple, Kristin, -12 lbs and Cathy, -1 lbs, -13 pounds total 2.30%
Team Pink, Helen, -6 lbs and Shanon -3 lbs, -9 pounds total 1.99%

As everyone gathered to discuss what to do, Helen said that she and Shanon had talked about what they would do if this day came, and Helen asked them to send Shanon home. Dane was kind of surprised because Mike and Cathy, the other parents on the ranch, would go home before they let Mike or Kristin go in a heartbeat.

At the elimination ceremony it appeared that Shanon had changed her mind and wanted to stay but the teams had already voted. She was voted off by everyone to honor her wishes.

On The Biggest Loser transformation moment we see that Shanon has gone from 238 pounds at elimination (she started at 283) to 198 pounds and is now training to be in the Roller Derby under the name Flower Power.

Not shown on the show but reported by the Boston Herald Shannon was arrested in December for giving a beat down to a housemate.
