BOB FREAKS OUT WHEN ONE CONTESTANT DOESN’T GIVE IT HER ALL
This week, the contestants are faced with a temptation that will cause each of them to examine the real reason they’ve come to the ranch. Then it’s off to an outdoor challenge where they’ll race by sea kayak and then on foot to the top of a mountain, hoping to win immunity as well as a coveted phone call home. Later, one contestant pushes trainer Bob Harper to the limit, causing him to freak out during last chance workouts before a surprising weigh in leads to a heartbreaking elimination.
On last week’s episode Eleven new couples arrive on the ranch, including the oldest couple (63 years old), the youngest man (18 years old), the biggest woman (379 lbs), and the heaviest contestant (454 lbs) in The Biggest Loser history. The contestants are 34 years old on average but take 45 different medications, making them the sickest group of contestants yet.
* Jillian: White, Black, Green, Orange, Yellow teams.
* Bob: Silver, Blue, Red, Pink, Brown, Purple teams.
Before Bob and Jillian came in, the contestants were told to give themselves their first workout without them. During which, Jerry (White) passed out and was taken to the hospital, and the contestants got a wake up call as to how their future looked.
They got an even bigger wake up call when they were taken to the hospital and shown in just how bad shape their bodies were in.
Their first challenge was at a bridge, where they had to run back and forth on it while climbing over 250,000 pounds of sand. The first five teams back would race a second time, then the first two teams back would race a third and final time, and the winners of the 3rd race would receive immunity from the weigh-in.
In the end it came down to The yellow team, Mandi and Aubrey, and the Black Team, Blaine and Dane. Ultimately, in a close finish the Black Team won and was rewarded immunity for the weigh in.
At the weigh in, an even bigger twist was revealed: 9 contestants would be sent home this week, one from each of the nine teams that fell below the yellow line. The team that was above the yellow line would be safe from this elimination, and Dane & Blaine were already safe due to possessing immunity.
Hundreds of pounds were dropped, including a 30-pound weight loss from Daniel (Orange) who started out as the heaviest contestant in Biggest Loser history, and a 32 pound weight loss from Ron, which Alison said awarded him a spot in the biggest loser record books for most weight loss in one week (A title previously held by Jerry Lisenby of Season 4, who lost 31 pounds in his first week, and assuming that Neil Tejwani also from season 4 who lost 33 lbs in week 8, the week after his 17 lb. weight gain due to waterloading, was not counted)
The Brown Team was above the yellow line with 6.6% weight loss, while the Orange, Blue, Purple, Gray, Yellow, Pink, Green, White, and Red teams fell below the yellow line, and as a result, each team had to pick one member to send home. But then, ANOTHER big twist: Alison told the contestants that even though 9 of them were being voted off, if, after 30 days (about 4-5 weeks) their teammate was still in the game on the ranch, then they would get to return. For example, if Estella (White) was eliminated and after 30 days, her teammate Jerry was still in the game, Estella would be able to return.
After an hour to deliberate, the votes were cast, and Shannon, Sione, David, Laura, Cathy, Nicole, Estella, Aubrey, and Carla were eliminated.
