The drama just keeps coming over at the Fang tribe. Jeff Probst has blogged that “the players always seem to suck when they put on the Fang buffs”. How true! Not one of the seven remaining Fangs appears to have longevity in the game, and so expectations therefore are for another Fang Tribal Council in Episode 6.
Why the Remaining 6 Fangs’ Prospects Seem So Dim
Ace and Sugar have a showmance and an immunity idol painting a huge target on their backs. They don’t appear to have any allies before their previewed attempt to entice Matty to jump ship in Episode 6. Ace has an ever-growing ego and Sugar is much too cavalier about her idol.
Crystal and Ken show good game strategy one week in evicting Jacquie, a complete lack of smarts the next in not voting to blindside Sugar. Crystal is no Cirie. She has no sympathy for weakness, even when it could benefit her. A great piece of advice for Survivors is: “On Survivor, you should always be prepared to ally with your worst enemy or someone you don’t like.” Someone forgot to tell Crystal.
Kelly and Matty are ships adrift, Kelly with little spunk and both with little apparent game-playing instincts.
Over at Kota, things are looking much brighter.
New Character Development on Kota
It seemed to be all Dan’s this week. He joked about Sugar returning to Exile Island “for comedy” and then made an open pitch for the Kota-7 to remain together post-merge. How must that have sounded to Randy and Susie to know that Dan so easily forgot his recently formed alliance with Matty? Dan never should have played all his cards so early in his new tribe. Alliances should be as secret as possible to maximize their effectiveness. Could Dan’s public announcement show his weakness in forming one-on-one bonds that are stronger in the long run? His pitch was too gung-ho and just made him seem a bit strange.
What Good Kota Game Move Possibilities Now Are There?
For Marcus, Charlie and Corinne, isn’t Dan setting himself to be used? The remaining onion alliance is secret. Paloma in her post-eviction interview admitted she knew nothing of the original alliance, four-strong with Jacquie. The Onions are that more powerful by keeping their pact secret. What if the remaining Onions promised to bring Dan into their alliance? Dan appears ready to be used and abused. The Onions could still keep their friendship with Bob alive. In an extra scene that I haven’t seen, it is reported that Corinne thinks Randy is the greatest, “witty and funny”. Randy could then also be an associate Onion. The Onions at this point in the game certainly seem posed to take control when the merge occurs.
Oh G.C., Poor G.C.!
I wanted to avoid jumping on the inevitable bandwagon which will forever diss G.C. for quitting the game. However, when I learned from G.C.’s post-eviction interview that he had hopes of becoming a rapper, I just could not hold my silence. G.C. reminds me of Survivor China’s colorless Erik and especially Survivor Fiji’s quitter Lisi, both wannabe musicians who totally wasted their Survivor limelight. G.C., when are you ever going to get the exposure again that you got with Survivor? Why did you waste your “15 minutes of fame”? Why didn’t you show what you could do rapping? You could have acted yourself a completely different persona which could have led to some post-Survivor success.

GC is certainly not a repeat of Dreamz. GC was probably smarter but unable to handle the pressure of camp life. He also was no match in the challenges often being the first one to give up when it became too physical. He didn’t even have any kind of strategy deciding it was better to take the street attitude to the tribe and then trusting Matty enough to say “I’m done”. Sorry GC, but that kind of behavior and attitude just won’t carry you very far.
I thought Randy was going to change my opinion of him when he began to offer more in the challenges and even fooling Ace by telling him to “Freeze!” in the rolling ball challenge but his attitude towards the losing team shows that he really has no foresight what so ever. Granted Crystal should not have shown her weakness by crying at the end of that challenge but Randy should have shown enough respect. Now he has already automatically alienated Crystal when they do merge. If anything it makes for great TV drama and I can’t wait to see Crystal with her in your face attitude confront Randy in the new tribe if they both make it that far.
