Big Brother Recap - Jerry Is Up Against April, But Not In A Good Way

After some catch up footage, we see the aftermath of the HOH competition.  Renny became quite emotional after her win; she is anxious to see a photo of her mom.  Keesha is “ecstatic” that Renny won HOH.  April, on the other hand, comments that she knows she is going up.  Memphis feels that Renny’s win is “the best thing that could have happened to me.”  Renny becomes worried, however, when Memphis is anxious to move into the hippie/skank room with Keesha.

Ollie and April are talking and cuddling on the couch, discussing how much the HOH outcome sucks for them.  Jerry comes in and sits down opposite them without a word.  April interviews that she and Ollie can never be alone for more than three minutes before Jerry shows up.  April and Ollie decide to go lay down in their room.  They are snuggling and scheming when Jerry once again turns up and lies down on his bed, without a word, in true pervert fashion.  April and Ollie continue to strategize, in whispers this time, about how vital it is to get Jerry on the block.  They each feel that they would have a better chance against Jerry.  Plus, as much as they might enjoy a threesome, Jerry’s not really first choice.

Renny and Keesha are in the skank room when Memphis comes in and Renny’s mood immediately changes.  When he is gone, Renny asks “What’s Memphis’ story, Keesha?”  She asks if Memphis promised something to Keesha in the end.  Keesha lies that he did not.  Renny says “I know you like him.”  Keesha smiles and coos “I do.”  Hey Keesha, remember bragging that you “sent Jessie packing back to his real girlfriend?”  Go look up “irony” in the dictionary, and get someone (it’ll probably have to be Dan) to explain the definition to you.

Renny tells Keesha “He won’t take you to the end, ’cause he couldn’t win against you.”  Confirming her belief in her absolute unbeatableness, Keesha replies that no one would take her to the end, except possibly Renny.  Renny interviews that she knows Keesha likes Memphis, and that she fought hard to keep him in the game.  “I’m not a stupid person, and I can see what’s going on.”  Back in their room, she tells Keesha “Memphis is a threat, though.  He’s very sly.  He would use people to get what he wants.  He’s the male April.”  Keesha interviews “Renny worries me; she’s on this Memphis kick.”  Renny remarks to Keesha that there is no reason to keep Memphis around.

Renny calls the gang up to her HOH room and reads her letter from her mom aloud.  It’s a nice letter and the HOH unveiling elicits no drama.

April and Ollie are in bed playing with a BB provided stuffed white poodle that April has claimed as her own.  Michelle and Jerry watch, and it turns out that they are actually practicing for the upcoming food competition, which will also involve a struggle against a natural inclination to throw up.  It seems that April found the poodle on the bed she claimed upon entering the house and has become quite attached.  Cut to the backyard, where Michelle and Renny are booting Holly the poodle back and forth.  Renny interviews that she has no love for April and enjoys yanking her chain.  Upon coming outside and discovering the mayhem, April hollers “Oh HELL to the no!” and attempts to rescue Holly.  Now Dan, who is sitting on the edge of the hot tub, joins in, and of course Holly is quickly soaking wet.  Memphis joins in.  We see a close up of the bedraggled toy dog; Dan comments that the poodle may be in bad shape, but April is in even worse.

With Holly recovering in the dryer, April and Ollie can turn their attention to thoughts of love.  Snuggling in bed, Ollie asks April if she has ever been in love.  She denies that she has.  Ollie asks if she thinks of him as a friend or a boyfriend.  April tells him he doesn’t really want her to answer, and he assents.  They agree that they could continue their relationship outside the house, and that they could definitely be BFFs for life.  Ollie asks “Is it bad to be sexually attracted to your best friend?”  April replies “No!  That’s perfect!”  April’s best friend is her twin sister, so she knows of what she speaks.

BB plays some Godfather music as Michelle heads into the HOH room to speak with Renny, who is sitting at a table throwing back glass after glass of red wine.  Renny holds court a la Marlon Brando, asking Michelle “If you got HOH next week, would you put me up?”  Michelle swears on the Bible and her parents that she would not.  “You are not my target at all.”  Renny interviews that she was trying to reel in Michelle and gain her trust.  Partaking of the grape has loosened Renny’s tongue, and with a slight slur she tells Michelle that April has a target on her back.  She continues “Keesha is my best friend, but I see what’s going on with the guys.  I may have to start getting mean in this game!”  Michelle assures Don Renny “I respect you.  I really do.”

Time for the food competition!  Everyone grabs a giant satin bow from a box, either blue or red.  The HGs are dressed in tuxedo tees and attach their colored bows to their necks.  The red team is Michelle, Keesha, April and Dan.  Ollie, Memphis and Jerry wear blue.  The backyard is set up for a gross out Fear Factoresque competition.  It’s Rock Paper Scissors BB Style.  Renny instructs the HGs “Instead of using your hands, you’ll be using your mouth.  In this version, Slop drowns Pig Ears; Pig Ears silence Crickets; and Crickets hop Slop.  One player from each team will step up to the ordering booth and write down what food they are willing to eat.  Whoever beats their opponent will have to eat the food they wrote down in order to gain a point for their team.  The first team to get four points will win food for the week.  The losing team will have suffered through today’s competition for a week’s worth of slop.”

Dan and Memphis are first up.  Memphis writes Slop; Dan Crickets.  And we all know that Crickets Hop Slop!  Dan eats a plate full of the crunchy critters, but not before offering a blessing: “….I know they meant no harm; unfortunately I’ll have to take them down one by one….Amen.”  Despite Memphis’ psych-out attempts, Dan makes short work of the Crickets, earning a point for Red.  Michelle and Ollie are next.  Ollie writes down Slop, fully expecting Michelle to write down Pig Ears, ’cause we all know she loves ‘em.  But Michelle is a step ahead, and writes down Crickets - which Hop Slop.  Michelle throws back the crickets in no time.  Red is up two nothing.  April writes Pig Ears, Jerry Slop.  Slop drowns Pig Ears, and Jerry chokes down a bowl full, but not without a little drama.  Good thing he practiced.  It’s 2-1 Red.

Dan and Memphis square off once again.  Memphis writes Pig Ears, which Silence Dan’s choice of Crickets.  Memphis chokes down three of the Portuguese delicacies, but not without a struggle.  It’s two all.  Next, Ollie writes down Crickets and Michelle - powerless to resist any longer - writes Pig Ears.  She relishes each one as the Blue team cringes.  3-2 red.  April and Jerry square off.  He writes Crickets and she - hoping to disgust him into dropping his stalking - writes Pig Ears.  April is a vegetarian, and claims she hasn’t eaten pork since age 13.  Well she must have been craving it, ’cause she munches up her Pig Ears without blinking an eye.  Red wins, putting Ollie, Jerry and Memphis on Slop for a week.  Renny announces that the losers need not be so Blue - America has voted to give them one food item they may eat in addition to slop.  Let’s go inside and see what it is - it’s lolly pops!  Ollie interviews that it looked like PeeWee’s Playhouse.  He is delighted with America’s choice: “Ollie loves his lollies!”  Something else he and April have in common.

Ollie may love his lollies, but he does not love birds.  As the HGs relax in the backyard, some crows show up along the roof line.  Ollie totally freaks out, backing slowly away as if facing a grizzly, and dives behind the couch before slipping into the house.  He blames his condition on the Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds.  He does not, however, accuse the crows of being cursed.  They have legs.

Dan goes to Renny in HOH and asks point blank if he is in danger.  She replies without a hint of irony ”No, but I may need you to go up as a pawn.”  She tells Dan that she is trying to go up against “that trio” of April, Ollie and Jerry, but that she doesn’t want to make too many enemies.  Dan explains “With me, Memphis and Keesha voting you are definitely getting one of them out.”  Memphis comes in, and Renny greets him with “How about being a pawn, Memphis?”  Memphis says Hell to the NO, but only in his head.  He merely tells Renny that he is “not okay” with it and cites the historical register of BB pawns.  He points out that if Ollie or April goes home, Jerry will not be mad at Renny.  At any rate, if Jerry does manage to snag HOH, he will be all too eager to put up Dan and Memphis, and won’t even think of Renny.

Dan agrees that he is and always will be an object of Jerry’s hatred.  Renny retorts “He put my ass on the block.”  Michelle and Keesha enter the room and receive the same greeting as Memphis.  Renny decides she needs to know what Ollie is thinking at this point, and sends Michelle to get him.  When he arrives, she asks where he stands in the game.  “I know you and April have a showmance going….”  Ollie trips over his own tongue in his haste to throw his showmance under the bus: “I’m here to win the game!”  Renny: “If April left, how would you be?”  “I’m here to win, not here just for a showmance.”  He asks Renny if April is the target this week, and agrees that she is a fierce competitor.  Ollie asks if he is not Renny’s target, why does he have to go up?  “You may have bigger fish to fry.”

Time for the nomination ceremony.  After very little preamble, Renny pulls Dan’s key.  Next are Keesha, Ollie, Memphis and Michelle, leaving Jerry and April swingin’ in the wind.  Why April? “You are the most tough cookie woman I’ve ever met, and in this game you’re a big threat.”  Jerry? “You put me on the block so I’m going to have to do the same for you.”  Keesha interviews that her BFF “should have nominated April and Ollie.  I don’t know what she is thinking right now.”  April is excited to be up against Jerry (not the other way around, for once) instead of Ollie, and hopes people will see him for the floater that he is.  Maybe she can stir things up a little.

The POV should be fun, as both these HGs have shown they have staying power when the chips are down.  Be sure to check out all the latest from Media Fiends.  Jax has all the Live Feed coverage, and she’ll tell you what’s really going on in the house:  MediaFiends.com 8/13/08 BB10 LFs: August 13th; MediaFiends.com 8/13/08 Battle Crown Royale; MediaFiends.com 8.13.08: BB10 Craig Ferguson Show; MediaFiends.com 8.13.08: BB10 LFs: August 14th; MediaFiends.com 8/14/08 How The Mighty Have Fallen; MediaFiends.com 8/15/08 BB10: Libra on ‘The Early Show’; MediaFiends.com 8/15/08 BB10 LFs: August 15th; MediaFiends.com 8/15/08 - Interview with Libra; MediaFiends.com - Target on Her Back, Ugly on Her Face
